By Wesley Gullett, Pride sports information

The Pride women’s soccer team started a new era under first year Head Coach Tracy Ducar. The team posted an overall record of 6-11-3 and was 5-1-1 and tied for second in USA South Conference play.

“We had a team of fighters, which is why every game we played was closely contested," said Ducar.”

GC was led on offense by senior Natalie Henderson. She scored nine goals for The Pride. Henderson finished her career with 28 goals and 19 assists for 75 points. Fellow seniors Yvette Jones, Teri Wells, and Shannon O’York were team leaders and played well in concluding their careers at GC in 2004.

In the first round of the USA South Tournament, the green and white hosted Shenandoah. After regulation and two overtimes, Meredith Carroll had the match-winning PK to advance her team. In the semi-final round of the tournament The Pride lost to Methodist College, 2-0.

GC had five players USA South Conference honors. Natalie Henderson and Yvette Jones received first team all-conference honors on the season. Keri Wells received
second team all-conference distinction for her play in the goal throughout the 2004 season.

The Pride also had two players receive USAS honorable mention honors: Ashley Cabral and Randi Brown. Cabral netted seven goals for the Pride and was second in
scoring.

"I'm already. looking forward to next year!" Ducar said.
