Swim Teams Compete at Hollins
The women's swim team split with Galaudet and Hollins while the men's team came up short against Galaudet in its first ever meet on Saturday.
The women edged Galaudet 48-46 but fell to Hollins 57-37. Emma Phillips and Dani Horne set the pace for The Pride with three event wins apiece.
Phillips recorded first place times in the 200 individual medley (2:17.16), the 100 breaststroke (1:11.04) and the 400 medley relay (4:39.14). Horne's individual first place finishes came in the 50 freestyle (26.07) and the 200 backstroke (2:27.41). Her time in the backstroke ranks fourth all-time at Greensboro. In addition, Horne teamed up with Phillips, Taylor White and Selina Price to win the 400 medley relay.
The men's team kicked off its inaugural season with a 121-63 setback against Galaudet. Alex Farell, Jaivon Wesley and Ben Nihart each picked up wins. Farrell led the way with two victories in the 200 freestyle (2:07.77) and the 100 breastroke (1:14.00). Wesley won the 50 freestyle (26.95) while Nihart came out on top in the 100 freestyle (1:00.91)
The women will host Guilford and Bridgewater on November 5 at Reynolds Pool. The men's team will next be in action on November 11 at Brenau University.
