Porter and Gonzalez Lead Men's and Women's Cross Country at Wilbur Ross

Andre Porter and Kayla Gonzalez led the Greensboro College cross country teams on Saturday at the Wilbur Ross Invitational against some of the top Division II talent from around the state of North Carolina.  Among the competiting schools included Winston-Salem State, Converse, Pfeiffer, Saint Augustine's, Salem, Livingstone and Johnson C. Smith.

Porter had the top finish for the men in 25th with a time of 20:03.57 while Gonzalez topped the women's side with a 37th place time of 25:22.03.

Lance Albritton also posted a top 30 finish at 29th in 21:02.21.  Keegan Lax followed close behind in 32nd in 21:46.99.  Nick Ceglio crossed the finish line in 22:07.72 while Cliff Barnett rounded out the top five in 22:56.81.  Also completing were Lugman Tijani in 23:22.45 and John Downs in 25:12.40.

The men placed fifth out of six with 139 total places.  Winston-Salem State picked up the win with 25 places.

Joining Gonzalez on the women's team were Amanda Mienhardt in 25:28.65, Anne-Marie Green in 27:19.11 and Megan Whitcomb in 29:49.35.

The women's team did not record an overall place finish.  Winston-Salem State also won the women's side with 41 total places.

The cross country teams will conclude their 2011 season on October 29 at the USA South Conference Championship in Greensboro, NC.
