Men's and Women's Swimming Wraps up Two Day Brenau Invitational
Emma Phillips continued her assault on the school record books as The Pride men's and women's swim teams took part in the Brenau Invitational. Overall, the women placed third among five teams with 107 points while the men finished third in a four team field with 111 points.
Phillips broke one of the program's longest standing records by placing first in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:01.04. She followed up that up by breaking Alex Cooke's 200 Butterfly record with a second place finish in 2:18.68. Phillips also took second in the 400 IM (4:50.86).
Dani Horne turned in a career best time in the 100 breaststroke at 1:14.70, which was good for third place and moved her into the fifth spot in program history. She recorded another top five time in school history with a fourth place mark in the 200 IM at 2:27.73. Horne rounded out the day with a third place finish in the 100 backstroke (1:07.49).
Taylor White placed fifth in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 2:50.16 which ranks seventh all-time in school history. In addition, she finished fifth in the 50 free (28.49), fifth in the 100 free (1:00.65) and sixth in the 100 butterfly (1:13.25).
Lauren Fisher also turned in a strong individual performance, placing fifth in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.43) as well as adding the tenth fastest time in Pride history in the 200 breaststroke at 3:01.20.
Also highlighting the invitational for the women were the relay teams. The 200 free relay (1:50.60) and the 200 medley relay (2:06.35) both placed second while the 400 freestyle relay team finished third at 4:03.05.
On the men's side, top six finishers included Ben Nihart in the 50 free (4th-24.99), Jaivon Wesley in the 50 free (5th-26.61) and the 200 free (6th-2:33.40), Davit Avagyan in the 50 free (6th-27.50), Craig Robinson in the 200 free (3rd-2:05.67) and the 500 free (6th-5:56.09), Ryan Hurd in the 200 Free (5th-2:29.44), Alex Farrell in the 200 free (2:07.89), and Rob Smith in the 100 breaststroke (1:19.57).
The men's relay teams also placed second in the 200 medley relay (1:56.83); third in the 200 free relay (1:45.50), the 400 free relay (4:01.08), and the 400 medley (4:39.12).
