Men's and Women's Swim Teams Place Sixth at Randolph-Macon
Emma Phillips turned in two victories as the Greensboro College men's and women's swim teams each placed sixth at the Randolph-Macon Invitational. The women finished with 87 points in the eight team field while the men concluded the meet with 120.
Phillips first victory of the day came in the 200 IM, with a time of 2:14.32. She followed it up later in the meet with a first place swim in the 200 breastroke in 2:29.64. Phillips also recorded a fourth place finish in the 200 freestyle (2:05.91) and teamed up with Taylor White, Dani Horne and Lauren Fisher in the 200 freestyle relay (1:51.59) and the 400 medley relay for eighth place marks. The group also placed ninth in the 200 medley relay in 2:08.37.
Horne had a solid swims in the 100 backstroke, coming in at number five with a time of 1:07.16 as well as the 100 freestyle in ninth at 58.05.
On the men's side, the 200 freestyle relay team of Craig Robinson, Ben Nihart, Jaivon Wesley and Jonathan Deming placed sixth in 1:41.93. The foursome came together again in the 400 freestyle relay in sixth with a time of 3:53.55, the 400 medley relay with an eighth place time of 4:31.30, and the 200 yard medley relay in seventh in 1:58.34.
Individually, Robinson placed tenth in the 500 freestyle in 5:52.51. Nihart finished fifth in the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:14.82 and tenth in the 50 freestyle in 24.86. Deming added a ninth place finish in the 100 breaststroke in 1:19.04 with Smith coming in close behind in tenth in 1:19.06.
Both teams will be back in the pool on December 3 at Hood College.
