Coach Scot Budde Swims at U.S. Masters; Pride Student-Athletes Lend a Helping Hand
Greensboro College swim coach Scot Budde and several Pride student-athletes were front and center at the U.S. Master's Swimming Championship. The meet took place at the Greensboro Aquatic Center in Greensboro, NC.
Budde competed in three events over the weekend, the 500 freestyle, the 200 freestyle and the 200 individual medley. He placed second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 4:58.74 and finished third in the 200 individual medley. Budde also turned in an eighth place time of 1:53.36 in the 200 freestyle.
According to the U.S. Masters Swimming website, Budde's time in the 500 freestyle ranks him third overall in the country while his finish in the 200 individual medley ranks him seventh.
"This is such a great event for the City of Greensboro," Budde said. "Over 1,800 swimmers came from across the nation to the new Aquatic Center for this event. The facility has now hosted two national championship meets (YMCA earlier this month). I hope that this exposure will help make Greensboro known as a swimming city."
In addition, nearly 100 Greensboro College student-athletes and coaches participated as timers, assisting swimmers and scorekeepers over the course of the weekend.
