Herk DeGraw to be Inducted into Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame
Former Greensboro College men's soccer player and assistant coach Herk DeGraw will be inducted into the Guilford County Sports Hall of Fame.
DeGraw played at Greensboro College from 1973-75 earning Honorable Mention All-Conference honors one time. Following his playing career, DeGraw joined the Greensboro College coaching staff as an assistant.
In 1979, he took over the boys soccer head coaching position at Grimsley High School. He added head coaching duties for the girls program in 1984.
DeGraw has compiled more than 800 soccer victories. His girls teams have won 444 games and six state championships (1990, 1993-94, 1996, 2002 and 2004) and have been runners-up six times. His boys teams, which he coached through 2005, won 391 games and made the state playoffs 17 times, finishing as runners-up three times.
He is a member of the N.C. Soccer Hall of Fame and the Greensboro College Athletic Hall of Fame.
