William S. Ariail Hall of Fame Room Dedicated

The William S. Ariail Hall of Fame Room was dedicated on April 18 during Greensboro College's Alumni Weekend. The event took place prior to the Induction of the 2009 Pride Athletics Hall of Fame Class.

Ariail is known as the "Father of Greensboro College Athletics." He arrived at GC in 1959 and was GC's first athletics director. Ariail coached the men's basketball team to a DIAC championship in just the "Hornets" second year of play.

GC welcomed the family and friends of William S. Ariail in order to dedicate the William S. Ariail Hall of Fame Room and the newly constructed outdoor patio.

“What a special weekend we had,” said Pride Athletics Director Kim Strable. “The Hall of Fame dedication should help us remember the father of GC athletics. I think Mr. Ariail would be proud of the the work done in his honor. These value-added features will be enjoyed by alumni, parents and--most importantly--student-athletes, for many years to come."
