In his first year at Greensboro College, Fastenau was instrumental in the redesign of the new athletic website, www.greensborocollegesports.com.  Among his responsibilities include updating and maintaining the athletic website; working with the media; managing gameday staffing; handling statistics, streaming and archiving; and overseeing various special events such as Hall of Fame and the end of the year Athletics Convocation.

During his time at West Virginia Wesleyan, Fastenau handled the sports information and promotion duties for the largest athletic department in the state of West Virginia; consisting of 19 varsity programs.  In addition, he helped initiate and launch the live stat and streaming programs.

A graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Fastenau also earned his Master's Degree in Business Administration from West Virginia Wesleyan.

Prior to his stint at West Virginia Wesleyan, Fastenau spent a year working with the Iowa Energy, the NBA Development League affiliate at the time of the Chicago Bulls and Miami Heat.  Among his duties with the first year organization included developing corporate partnerships and promoting season and single game group ticket packages.  Fastenau helped the franchise set an NBA Development League single game attendance record.

Following his graduation from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Fastenau also spent time as a business intern with the Hagerstown Suns, the Class A baseball affiliate of the Washington Nationals.

Fastenau is originally from Des Moines, Iowa, and now resides in Greensboro.
