Two important announcements regarding the 2010 Jim Locke Golf Tournament were made on Oct. 24 at Greensboro College's homecoming football game. The signature Pride athletics fund raising even will be played May 6th at the Starmount Forest Country Club. Former NFL star wide receiver and Greensboro resident Ricky Proehl will serve as the event's honorary chairperson.

This year's Locke tournament will be the 20th annual event. The Jim Locke Tournament is sponsored by the Circle of Pride, GC's athletic booster club.

"We are very excited about the these developments for the Jim Locke Golf Tournament," said Pride Assistant Athletics Director Dan Cetrone. "Despite being a superstar, we've found Ricky Proehl to be down to Earth and willing to help our event in any way. We think our constituents will be delighted with the opportunity to play at Starmount. The fact that this special course is just three miles from Greensboro College is an added bonus."

Proehl: Local Legend and Businessman

Proehl played in the NFL for 17 seasons on six different teams including the Carolina Panthers. He competed in four Super Bowls and won two--one with the Rams and one with the Colts.

The Wake Forest graduate lives in Greensboro with his wife Kelly and their three children: daughter Alex and sons Austin and Blake.

He is also the owner of the state-of-the-art training facility in Northwest Greensboro: Proehlific Park.

The Course: Starmount Forest Country Club

This 20th Locke Tournament returns to Starmount Country Club. The golf course was rebuilt in 1999 by Architect, Lester George. During its seventy-five plus years of existence, Starmount Forest has hosted many professional and amateur tournaments. Starmount is the only championship golf course in the city limits of Greensboro, North Carolina.
