FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Greensboro College men's tennis team has been picked to place fifth in the upcoming USA South Conference season. Under the direction of fifth year Head Coach Dave McCain, GC returns 4 starters from a 2009 team that went 5-9.
N.C. Wesleyan College was picked to win the 2010 USA South Athletic Conference men's tennis title in the preseason coaches' poll. The Bishops captured both the USA South Regular Season and Tournament crowns last spring.
N.C. Wesleyan received six of seven first-place votes (36 points) as head coaches do not vote for their own teams in the balloting. Christopher Newport University earned second in the poll with 29 points and the final first-place vote. Averett University placed third in the poll with 25 points while Methodist University followed in fourth with 24 points.
The 2010 USA South Men's Tennis Tournament will once again be played at the Burlington Tennis Center in Burlington, North Carolina on April 16-18.
The Pride opens its season Feb. 14 at Guilford College.
