Baseball Preview (3/19-3/25)
The Pride look to rebound from two conference losses and return to their winning ways with four non-conference games this week. Greensboro is 12-4 in non-conference games and 11-3 at home, where all four games this week will be played.
Greensboro will open the week against the Jumbos of Tuft College, who are just 3-0 on their young season. The Jumbo are opening their season on a 15 game road trip, which includes games against five USA South schools. Tufts opened their season with a 9-4 victory over Lynchburg before dominating Washington and Lee, 18-4, and Guilford, 24-6. The Pride is 7-3 all-time against the Jumbos and they won last season's match-up, 6-4.
Following their Tuesday game, The Pride will host North Central (Ill.) on Wednesday. The Cardinals are coming off a three-game series with North Carolina Wesleyan, which they won, 3-2. They are 6-3 on the season, having split every series this year and defeating Wisconsin-Platteville in a single game. North Central is also slated to play Methodist on Tuesday before traveling to Greensboro.
The Pride will continue their home stand on Thursday against Frostburg State. The Bobcats are 9-6 on the season and have won three straight after losing six of seven. Frostburg starts a three-game road trip against Mary Washington before swinging by Greensboro to take on Guilford and The Pride. Greensboro is 5-3 all-time against the Bobcats, but have yet to play them under coach Matt Aker.
Greensboro will complete their week on Sunday with a re-match against the Royals of Eastern Mennonite. The Pride rode an eight-run fifth inning to a 12-6 victory over thr struggling Royals, who are 12-6 midway through their season. EMU has lost five straight, including their loss to Greensboro, with their last victory coming on March 10 against Emory & Henry.
