Randall Thompson comes to The Pride from Ashbrook High School in Gastonia, North Carolina, where is was an assistant coach in charge of wide receivers, defensive backs, and returners. While with Gastonia, he coached a receiving core that averaged over 14.5 yards per catch and also coached a player who was considered the # 6 wide receiver in the country through 07-08 season, who later went on to sign with the University of North Carolina and set UNC single game receiving record.

Prior to his work at Gastonia, he was a coach and the athletic director at the Gaston Boys and Girls Club.  Thompson was also an assistant coach at North Gaston High School where he was also in charge of wide receivers, defensive backs, and special teams.

Thompson completed his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Western Carolina where he was a four year letterman as a wide receiver, defensive back, and returner.
