Ed McKee enters his seventh year as a member of the Pride
men’s basketball coaching staff.
With his help, The 2007-08 team advanced to the conference
championship game for the first time in 10 years. In 2006-07, GC
finished 20-7 and shared the USA South regular season championship.
It was GC's third conference championship and first since the
1984-85 campaign. The Pride also earned its second straight USA
South player of the year award.
McKee arrived at GC after spending the 2004-05 season at UNC
Greensboro. He had the title of director of basketball operations
for the NCAA Division I Spartans who finished that season with an
18-12 record.
McKee is no stranger to Greensboro College. He was a four-year
letterwinner (1996-01) for The Pride. After receiving his
bachelor’s degree from GC, McKee spent one season as an
assistant coach at Marymount University (VA) where he helped lead
them to a school record in wins as they went 19-9 during the
2001-02 season. From 2002-04, McKee moved north to The College of
New Jersey for two seasons as an assistant coach where TCNJ went
31-21 over that two year span. In addition to coaching, McKee
earned his master’s degree in sports administration at
TCNJ.
McKee, who works in Greensboro College's admissions office, is
responsible for recruiting, scouting, and other day to day
operations as well as working with The Pride's post players.
In addition, McKee serves as the Faculty Athletic Representive.
“Coach McKee is a tireless recruiter and has become a
familiar face around high school gyms throughout the state”
said GC Head Men’s Basketball Coach Bryan Galuski.
“Coach McKee has a tremendous amount of passion for coaching
and for the success of Greensboro College.”
