Former GC Golf Coach Wins CPGA Senior Open Event
Former Greensboro College head men's golf coach Robert Linville won his first CPGA senior title of 2011 at the Rock Barn Senior Open on October 11-12. Linville, who is currently the Director of Instruction at Robert Linville's Precision Golf School in Greensboro, put together two bogey free rounds to pull away for an impressive six stroke victory with a nine-under-par, 135 (65-70).
During his 13 years at Greensboro College (1995-2007), Linville helped maintain the program's status as a national powerhouse while leading the 2000 squad to the school's first NCAA National Championship in any sport. In recognition of his accomplishments, he was inducted into the Greensboro College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2008.
In addition to his win at the Rock Barn Senior Open, Linville also recently placed 17th at the Southworth Senior PGA Professional National Championship. By finishing in the top 35, Linville qualified to compete in the 2012 Senior PGA Championship next May in Michigan.
