Men's Golf Finishes Jekyll Collegiate in 10th Place

The Pride men's golf team used a final day push to move into the top ten at the prestigious Jekyll Collegiate Invitational.  Greensboro was tied for 15th out of 30 heading into the third and final day on Sunday and put together its best round of the tournament.

The Pride shot a 289 to conclude the tournament with a total team score of 895 (302-304-289).  Kirk Mitchell broke 70 on Sunday, shooting a team best 69.  Mitchell placed in a tie for 11th overall with a three-day score of 217 (75-73-69). 

Ben Nihart lowered his score by one stroke each day and tied for 32nd at 222 (75-74-73).  Joshua Hudgins also shot his best round of the tournament on Sunday with a 71.  Hudgins wrapped up the tournament in a tie for 53rd at 226 (78-77-71).

First day team leader, Scott Novicki, accumulated a score of 238 (74-85-79), while Brian Critzer added a 239 (83-80-76).

Methodist led wire-to-wire and picked up the team title with an overall score of 858 (279-287-292).  The Monarchs, Mike Wesko, took home the individul championship with a 209 (70-71-68).

Greensboro will next be in action on March 30 at the Camp Lejuene Intercollegiate.
