NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championship Field Announced
The Greensboro College men's golf team will look to defend its NCAA Division III National Championship on May 15-18 at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-in-the-Hills, FL. The championship field was officially announced on Monday, with the USA South champion Pride men's golf team earning an automatic bid.
A total of 41 teams were selected to participate, with 31 teams receiving automatic bids. In addition to Greensboro, Methodist and Christopher Newport will also represent the USA South Conference at the NCAA Championships.
The Pride are riding a hot streak heading into the tournament. Greensboro finished no lower than fourth place in four of its five spring meets and picked up its lone tournament victory of the season at the USA South Championships on April 13-15 at Stoney Creek in Burlington, NC.
The Pride opened up the 2011-2012 campaign in September with the NCAA Fall Preview at the Mission Inn Resort. Greensboro turned in a top ten finish in a field loaded with national contenders.
The Pride defeated Illinois Wesleyan by six strokes to claim its second national title in school history at the 2011 Division III Men's Golf Championship.
