Luke Erickson and John Grimes to Join Men's Golf Program

Head Pride men's golf coach Dirk Fennie announced the addition of Luke Erickson and John Grimes to the 2012 incoming recruiting class.    

Erickson, originally from Gig Harbor, WA, placed third in the Washington State High School 3A Championships with an overall two-day score of 145 (73-72).  He placed in a tie for fourth at the Washington Junior Golf Association District 3 Championship with a two-day total of 148 (74-74).

A team captain of his high school squad, Erickson was named the Most Valuable Player at Peninsula High School in 2010-2011.  In additon to his success on the golf course, he was a member of the National Society of High School Scholars and the Keystone National High School Honor Society.

Grimes comes to Greensboro from Matthews, NC.  Among his golf highlights include a fifth place finish at the 2012 North Carolina Junior Amatuer with a round of 70, a third place showing at the 2012 Carolinas Amatuer Qualifying with a round of 69, an eighth place finish at the 2011 AJGA Webb Simpson at Tanglewood with a three-day score of 214 (70-75-69), and a victory at the 2010 NJGC Event at Irish Creek with a two-day score of 141 (74-67).

"John and Luke will make Greensboro College golf better the moment they set foot on our campus in August," said head coach Dirk Fennie.  "They will without a doubt be players that will contend in many college tournaments this year and not only fill in some gaps we have but make us better immediately."
