Elder Finishes in Second at Carolinas Amateur
Former Greensboro College
golfer Brock Elder fired a final round 74 on Sunday afternoon at
the Carolinas Amateur to a secure a tie for second place.
Elder, who helped lead The Pride to the National Championship in
May, led by a single stroke entering the final day. He
finished at five-under par with an overall score of 283
(72-67-70-74).
Scott Harvey took home the title with a four day total of 281
(72-70-68-71). Also finishing tied for second place was Grant
Houser of Holly Springs, NC (74-72-70-67) and Trevor Cone of
Concord, NC (74-72-69-68).
The Carolinas Amateur championship is
the oldest CGA championship and is being played at 72 holes stroke
play for the second year. It was competed at match play for the
first 95 events.
This event is
one of 35 major championships conducted by the 102 year old
Carolinas Golf Association.
