Kirk Mitchell Places 23rd at Carolinas Amateur Championship
Greensboro College men's golfer Kirk Mitchell placed in a tie for 23rd at the 98th annual Carolinas Amateur Championship over the weekend. Mitchell shot a four-day score of +5, 289 (74-73-71-71) at the Charlotte Country Club in Charlotte, NC.
With his 23rd place finish among a field of 144 players, Mitchell earned an exemption into the 99th Carolinas Amateur Championship that will be played July 11-14, 2013 at The Ocean Course in Kiawah Island, SC. The Amateur Championship is open to legal residents of North Carolina and South Carolina.
Mitchell becomes the second Pride golfer in as many years to turn in an impressive showing at the Championship. In 2011, Brock Elder finished second just months after leading Greensboro College to a National Championship in his senior season. Elder did not compete in this years tournament.
