The Pride men's lacrosse team dropped a 14-4 decision to Washington & Lee in its home finale on Wednesday. Greensboro had won three straight and five of its past six entering the day.
The Pride fell behind out of the gate, as the Generals scored the first two goals of the game en route to a 4-1 lead after one period. Ryan McNamara scored the lone Greensboro goal with 3:34 remaining in the first quarter to narrow the gap to 2-1.
Washington & Lee shut out The Pride in the second to go into the break on top 7-1. The Generals essentially put the game out of reach in the third, outscoring Greensboro 6-1, to extend the advantage to 13-1 with one period to play.
The Pride finished the game with 32 total shots and 19 on goal. Greensboro picked up 27 ground balls, won 11-22 face-offs and converted 15-20 clear attempts.
Bill Blakely led The Pride with two goals, while McNamara and Nicholas Lusardi each contributed one.
The Pride will finish out the regular season on April 22 at Christopher Newport. Game time is set for 11:00 a.m.
