Leslie Furness was hired as as an assistant coach for the Greensboro College softball team in November, 2009.

Furness graduated from UNCG in 2009 with a degree in kinesiology with a concentration in youth sport development. She also served the Spartan athletic department in event staff organizing and facilities.

As a student-athlete, Furness played as a catcher for four years at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was elected a Spartan team captain in her junior and senior years. Her career fielding average was an impressive .991%.

A native of Greenville, NC, Furness has various youth camps and clinics in the Greensboro area. She also has worked as an individualized hitting and catcher instructor.

"Coach Furness has a strong work ethic," said GC Head Coach Whitney Gelin. "She also provides great knowledge and enthusiasm to our program."
