The consistency of Greensboro women's basketball program over the past several years has finally earned them the respect of D3 administrators and it shows, as The Pride have been ranked in the Top 25 of two major polls this pre-season. The Pride made another appearance in a pre-season poll, as D3Hoops.com them ranked 15th in the nation. Greensboro also earned a sixth place national ranking in the DIII News poll.
To emphasize the importance of these pre-season rankings, all you have to do is look at teams that join Greensboro on the list. Teams like Amherst, last year's national champion; Chicago, who knocked The Pride out of last year's tournament; Washington-St. Louis, the five-time national champion and last year's runner-up; as well as several other national powerhouses.
Greensboro hopes to prove its worth this year at both the conference and national level. The Pride were picked to win this year's USA South championship, after winning last year's regular season title. The women also look to continue their success at a national level and perhaps push even farther into the tournament than last year's Sweet Sixteen appearance. Greensboro will open the season November 16th at home against Guilford.
