Women's Golf Opens Spring at Day 1 of Rome News-Tribune Invitational

The Greensboro College women's golf team had three individuals in action at day one of the Rome News-Tribune Invitational on Monday.  The tournament, hosted by Berry College, is being played at the par-72, 5,854 Coosa Country Club in Rome, GA.

Competing for The Pride are Tara Smith, Alexis Gregory and Courtney Holt.  Smith currently leads the trio with an hole round of 94.  Smith turned the corner at 44 and finished the back nine with a 50.

Gregory follows with a 96.  After shooting a 52 on the front nine, Gregory lowered her score with a back nine card of 44.  

Holt rounds out the group with a day one total of 105.  Holt finished the front nine at 51 and shot 54 on the back.

The spring season marks the second for the young Greensboro women's golf program.  The Pride will conclude action at the Rome News-Tribune Invitational on Tuesday.
