Women's Lacrosse Uses Strong First Half to Down Methodist, 15-12
The Pride women's lacrosse team opened up a 12-6 halftime lead and held on down the stretch to beat Methodist 15-12 on Sunday. The win snapped a four game losing streak and improved Greensboro's record to 3-6 overall and 3-1 in the USA South.
Methodist rallied to even the score at 3-3 before The Pride scored seven unanswered goals to go up 10-3 and roll into the break ahead 12-6.
The Monarchs made an early push to kick off the second half, closing the gap to 12-8 with two quick goals. Brittany Ziobro picked up her fourth and fifth goals of the contest to extend the margin to 14-8 at the 24:34 mark.
Methodist would take the control from there, scoring four of the last five goals - with Ziobro notching the lone score for Greensboro. It was not enough, though, as The Pride survied the comeback with a 15-12 victory.
Greensboro held a 32-20 advantage in shots and fired 20 total shots on goal. The Pride picked up 22 ground balls and won 19 draw controls for the game. Greensboro also converted 7-10 clear attempts.
Ziobro's six goals for the game gives her 38 on the season. Gallaher added four while Fedun chipped in with two. Tierra Lyles earned the win in goal, making five total saves.
