Second Half Run Eliminates Women's Lacrosse at USA South Tournament
A second half run by Shenandoah doomed the Greensboro College women's lacrosse team in a 15-7 season ending setback. The Pride went into the half tied at 3-3 and were within 8-7 before the Hornets finished out the game on an 8-0 run.
Greensboro jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals by Kayla Gonzalez, Brittany Ziobro and Nadya Fedun. Melissa Gallaher contributed two assists.
After Shenandoah rallied to tie the game at 3-3 going into halftime, Ziobro put The Pride back on top 4-3 to start the second half.
The game continued to go back-and-forth over the next twenty minutes with the Hornets holding an 8-7 lead with 9:31 to play. Ziobro tallied two more goals while Fedun added one during the span.
It was all Shenandoah from the 9:31 point on, however, as the Hornets scored eight unanswered goals to pull away for the 15-7 win.
Greensboro finished with 23 shots and 15 on goal. The Pride picked up 17 ground balls and converted 16-18 clear attempts.
Ziobro concluded her stellar campaign with a game high four goals. Fedun chipped in with two while Gallaher dished out a team high two assists.
The Pride wrapped up the season with a 5-9 record.
