Women's Lacrosse Handed 17-5 Setback to Adrian

The Pride women's lacrosse team (0-4 overall) was downed at home to Adrian (2-0 overall) on Sunday afternoon by a final count of 17-5.

The Bulldogs wasted little time finding the scoreboard with a goal 13 seconds into the contest.  Brittany Ziobro provided the equalizer for Greensboro just 1:12 later with a free position goal.

Adrian scored the next two goals to take a 3-1 advantage.  Ziobro converted another free position opportunity to pull The Pride to within 3-2 at the 24:18 mark.

The Bulldogs took charge from there, scoring the next seven goals of the first half to head into the break with a 10-2 lead.

Adrian added the first two goals of the third period before Ziobro and Kayla Gonzalez found the net on back-to-back goals to cut the Greensboro deficit to 12-4.

The Bulldogs would finish the game strong, however, putting five of the final six goals on the board.  Ziobro tacked on the lone Pride score down the stretch, her fourth of the day.

Adrian held a 30-14 advantage in total shots and won 15 of the 24 draw controls.  Greensboro made good on ten of 14 clear attempts and three of seven free position attempts.

Kirstin Norris picked up a team high three groundballs and also caused a team best two turnovers.  Micaela Sandoval made her first start in goal, making eight saves in the defeat.

The Pride will hit the road on Tuesday with a trip to Randolph-Macon.  Game time is set for 4 p.m.
